Three Billion Huawei Users Will Receive Access To BitTorrent Applications

The large torrent platform BitTorrent, acquired by TRON’s Justin Sun in 2018, has partnered with the Chinese communications giant Huawei. As a result, Huawei will add all of BitTorrent’s applications to several of its mobile phones used in 170 countries.

BitTorrent On Huawei’s Smart Phones

In a press release shared with CryptoPotato, BitTorrent announced that Huawei Mobile Services will add the torrent platform’s four core applications to its ecosystem. Namely, those are BitTorrent, BitTorrent Pro, uTorrent, and uTorrent Pro.

According to the statement, this will enable all of Huawei’s three billion users spread across 170 countries to access the “largest and most popular decentralized network directly from their mobile devices.”

Additionally, BitTorrent desktop users who own a Huawei Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro, P40, P40 Pro, or P40 Plus devices could take full advantage of the “world’s largest distributed blockchain network and file-sharing services” directly on their mobile phones.

BitTorrent has 100 million active users and over two billion installations, as recently reported. Back in 2018, the popular blockchain project TRON, led by Justin Sun, acquired the torrent platform. Shortly after, TRON began integrating BitTorrent into its network and released the BTT token, which powers the entire BitTorrent X ecosystem.

A Significant Milestone for TRON and BitTorrent

Another outcome of the BitTorrent and Huawei partnership will impact TRON. An independent community team in Singapore will “spearhead the creation of a new protocol to bridge apps in the Huawei ecosystem to TRON network through BTT and leverage the potential of decentralized features such as BitTorrent File System (BTFS).”

TRON’s founder and CEO Justin Sun commented on the partnership and described it as “another huge milestone” for the two decentralized networks.

“We are excited to see the blossoming universe of distributed networks grow via Huawei devices and technology.”

Sun also highlighted Huawei as one of the world’s largest Android manufacturers. Interestingly, TRON already has experience with partnering with giant companies from the same field. Prior to the Huawei collaboration, the blockchain project announced a few joint ventures with the South Korean behemoth Samsung.
